Don’t Let Your Dreams Fade

Ahhh, it feels good to be back.

Back into the world — Back into the creative atmos, making music, loving life. Thank you so much for STILL being here, after all these years! And truly — thank you for not abandoning me, when I feel like I had (in a way) abandoned pieces of myself… I think I kind of gave up on music for a while.

After COVID, a lot happened. Life happened.

I stopped touring, moved to Seattle ✈️ married an American 🇺🇸, got a puppy 🐶, moved back to the east coast, had our ‘official’ family & friends wedding 💍, bought our first house 🏡… All the while, playing about 60 corporate and private gigs a year.

Whew!
And that, my friend,
is the perfect recipe for ignoring my creative spirit and leaving my music career by the way side LOL.

I was tired, and every day doubt would creep in little closer. Like, “Is it too late to keep chasing this music dream of mine?” But when I sat alone in my studio one fateful day, guitar in hand, I chose to keep going.

And then I heard it:

Don’t let your dreams faaaaade
Don’t let your dreams fade away”

DON’T LET YOUR DREAMS FADE is a song born out of raw, honest emotions and deciding to not give up. Sometimes there’s a lull before a spark, and that day, man did I get a spark. I was sitting there in my studio, envisioning myself starting out on a big world wide tour, on a dark stage with lights slowing beaming up behind me, thinking… “What song would I sing as the first track in a huge concert? What song would be the motto to the next phase in my life, and to help lift up my incredible fans (and favorite people) who have been with me on this journey all this time? We deserve something great.”

I had mentioned I’ve been playing 60 corporate gigs a year – this is true! I do enjoy it as well, but it’s a very different experience playing to a room of 70 corporate business men during a networking cocktail event, than getting to play my own original songs live on stage to people who actually want to hear my music and are excited about it.

These two scenarios are different… But they are also the same.

Here’s why.

I always ALWAYS start out my gigs with one song that I think is the perfect start to a performance: Dreams by Fleetwood Mac. Ahhh yes, the iconic song by the iconic band that is making a huge (and rightfully earned) resurgence in today’s younger generations. It’s always an honor and privilege for me to sing this song. SO, it’s always the #1 spot on my song list. (I also know I can sing the song damn well lol, so I start my sets off with a banger that I know will resonate with guests no matter what age or stage of life.)

I digress — back to the writing part; as I was sitting there in my studio envisioning MYSELF up on stage singing MY OWN tune, my biggest inspiration was Dreams by Fleetwood Mac. And then, Don’t Let Your Dreams Fade was born.

_______________________________________

This is how it starts
One foot out the door
Carrying your black heart
With the weight of something more
Dreaming like a child
Searching for your inner wild
You know you got that spark just light the fire

Don’t let your dreams fade
Don’t let your dreams fade away
Don’t let your dreams fade
Fade away

It’s time for some changes
Follow the signs
If you wanna make it
You gotta put in precious time
Close both your eyes
Take in all the sunshine baby
It’ll come, but first you gotta try, try, TRY!

Don’t let your dreams fade
Don’t let your dreams fade away
Don’t let your dreams fade
Fade away

Don’t it feel good, don’t it feel good
Don’t it feel good now
Don’t it feel good, don’t it feel good
To let it out

Don’t Let Your Dreams Fade is as much of a tribute to one of my favorite Fleetwood songs of all time, as it is a song dedicated to us dreamers and believers who won’t give up. It would be sooo easy for us to throw in the towel. To quit and say, NOPE! I choose nap time and netflix, instead of hard work and dedication. But what fuels me the most is getting up on that stage and performing. THAT is my dream, and I will not let it fade.

I hope you won’t let your dreams fade either. And I hope this song inspires tou to keep going, even when it feels hard! ✨

Or even better… buy it on bandcamp – where 100% of the proceeds go to the artist 😀

Let’s go — onwards and upwards together, shall we!?

With love + gratitude,
Jessica Allossery
